Recording with Hear and See
Hear and See are two views of one recording. No account or subscription is needed to capture.
How do I start and stop?
- Open Trunk and choose Hear.
- Tap the red record button and allow microphone access when asked.
- Tap the stop button to finish. The recording appears in your library.
Tell the people you are with that you are recording, and get their agreement where required. The iPhone app does not record phone calls directly; you can import an existing call recording.
How do photos and video work?
Choose See and allow camera access. The white shutter takes a photo; during a recording, it pins the photo to that moment. A photo taken without a recording becomes its own memory.
The video button starts filming and starts audio if it is not already running. Stop filming ends just the video; Stop recording ends the whole take. You can switch between Hear and See while recording.
Filming keeps selected stills when the scene changes. Their text is read on the device. In Settings, Video Quality chooses Memory Quality or Full Quality for the next video.
Can I lock the phone?
Audio can continue with the phone locked or the app in the background. The recording's Live Activity shows its timer and a Stop button on the lock screen.
Video ends when Trunk leaves the screen, including when the phone locks. Heat, low storage or another app taking the camera can also end filming. Audio continues while the microphone remains available and there is room to save it.
Why does a memory say “Cut short”?
A call or another app taking the microphone, a disconnected microphone, the app closing, or storage running out can end the audio take. The saved memory shows the reason. Recording does not restart by itself; start a new take when ready.
What happens after the free two hours?
Free includes two hours of transcription each calendar month, counted on this device, including imported audio and video. A recording begun with allowance left is transcribed whole.
When the allowance is used, new recordings are still saved. Their words wait until the allowance returns or you get Pro. The limit applies to transcription, not the record button.
