Transcription, text recognition and summaries run on your device. There is no cloud transcription or cloud AI.
Where is my transcript?
Hear can show live words while you record. Afterward, open the memory to see its transcript or status: transcribing, downloading a speech model, or waiting for your allowance. A long recording can take time. Unlock the iPhone and open Trunk so waiting files can be read.
If transcription fails, the audio is kept and the memory explains what happened. Use Try again after addressing the problem. If no speech was found, the memory says so. Help with speech models.
How do I choose a language?
In the library, choose More → Settings → Transcription Language. The default is This iPhone's Language; the list shows the languages available on this device.
On this iPhone means the model is installed. Downloads when chosen means it needs a download from Apple. Your recording is not sent to Apple for transcription.
Changing the language does not rewrite finished transcripts. For an iPhone recording, open its More menu and choose Transcribe Again when available. This replaces the current transcript, including your corrections, using the chosen language.
How do I find a moment?
Use Search your memories in the library. It finds words in titles, transcripts and text read from images. Open a result to reach the matching sentence or image. Tap a transcript sentence to play from there.
Text must have been recognized before it can be found. If a word is missing, check the transcript or the image's recognized text first.
Can I correct the words?
Open the memory and choose More → Edit Title to rename it. Touch and hold a transcript sentence, choose Edit Text, make the correction and tap Done. The original recording stays.
Why does one memory have no summary?
Automatic titles and short summaries use the on-device model where supported and available. They are not available on every iPhone or in every language. A plain title is used when a generated one is unavailable.
Where offered, More → Summarize Again uses the current transcript. A title you typed is kept. Read the words and listen back when accuracy matters.
