Privacy and app lock
Privacy, export and app lock are never paywalled.
What do you promise?
- Capture is deliberate and never blocked.
- Every capture becomes text, on the device. Original audio and images are kept.
- Backup is end-to-end encrypted. The key stays with the user. We cannot read memories.
- The door is always open: full export of audio, images and text, free, no account.
- Privacy, export and app lock are never paywalled.
Free's transcription allowance, language support and device conditions can mean waiting for the words; recording is not paywalled.
Your private memories are encrypted on your device before backup. The key stays with you, never on our servers. We can't listen to or read them.
We also say, plainly: we can see your email or Apple relay address and which sign-in you used, your subscription and its history with Apple, the devices you signed in from and when, how many encrypted memories and files you have, their sizes, and when they were made, changed or deleted, and the IP addresses your devices connect from. From a file's size we can guess a recording's length. We cannot see titles, words, pictures or sound.

How do I lock the app?
In the library, choose More → Settings → App Lock, then turn on Lock with Face ID. Set up Face ID or a passcode on the iPhone first if the switch is unavailable.
Trunk asks for Face ID or your passcode when it opens and after it has been away for half a minute. The app's locked screen still offers a Record button; your library stays behind the lock.
Can I recover a deleted memory?
Choose Settings → Recently Deleted, open the memory's options and choose Restore. Deleted memories stay there for 30 days.
After that, the app erases them when it next runs. With backup on, deletions reach other devices when they sync. After the server receives the purge, its next cleanup removes the backup files. Being offline or pausing backup delays those steps.
Erase Now skips the waiting period and cannot be undone. It erases this device's copy, and with backup on the change reaches the backup and other devices as they sync.
What does Erase All Memories do?
Settings → Erase All Memories… removes all memories on this iPhone, including Recently Deleted. Stop any recording first. The confirmation asks you to type ERASE; this cannot be undone.
Your backup and other devices keep their copies. Backup is paused after the local erase; resuming it can bring memories back. To remove the backup too, delete your account.
How do I export everything?
Choose Settings → Export Everything…. Check the space estimate, then choose where to save the folder in Files. It is free and needs no account. Restore memories from Recently Deleted first if you want them included.
The export includes available audio, images, video and text. Missing files are listed in each memory's folder. Video is not in Pro backup or the iPhone's iCloud device backup; export it from the device that has it.
Exported files are readable copies. Their privacy depends on where you save or send them.
