Delete your account
Delete your account in the app or on the web, in 30 days or now. Memories kept on your iPhone and Mac stay there.
How do I delete it?
- In the app: Settings → Account → Delete Account…
- On the web: sign in at trunkhere.com/m, then choose Delete Account… on the Account page.
If you last signed in on that device more than ten minutes ago, you're asked to sign in again first, so someone holding your unlocked phone or browser can't do it.
Delete in 30 Days or Delete Now?
- Delete in 30 Days signs you out everywhere and hides your account now: your public profile and stories, links and collections stop being available to others. Sign in before the date to keep it; that cancels the deletion. On the date it is deleted, and signing in can't bring it back.
- Delete Now deletes it at once. If some files can't be removed straight away, the server finishes by itself.
- Keep It leaves everything as it is.
What goes with it?
Memories whose files are only in Trunk's cloud are deleted with the account, and so are the drafts saved to it, your cloud library, links and collections, and your public profile and stories. Copies others already saved can't be recalled.
Before you choose, the iPhone app counts the memories that aren't fully on your iPhone yet. To keep them, leave the app open on Wi-Fi until the count reaches zero, then delete.
What stays?
Memories kept on your iPhone and Mac stay there, and so do files you exported. To erase an iPhone's memories too, see Erase All Memories.
What about Pro?
Deleting the account doesn't cancel Pro. A subscription is Apple's, and is cancelled separately, under Subscriptions in your Apple Account settings. If you don't cancel it, it goes to the next account you sign in to on that iPhone within 400 days.
Will I get an email?
Yes. Trunk writes to the addresses on your account when it is set to be deleted, when a sign-in keeps it, and when it is deleted, so you would know if it wasn't you.
What is kept afterwards, and why?
- Your usernames, held for at least 35 days before anyone else can choose them.
- One-way hashes of the account's deletion receipts, its devices' sign-in tokens and its number, for 400 days. Nothing about you can be read back from them. They let a device you used learn the account is gone and remove what it kept, and let a Pro purchase go to the next account you sign in to on that iPhone.
- Apple's notices of your subscription's events, until the first cleanup 90 days after each arrives.
- Anything a provider or the law requires us to keep.
The privacy policy lists every record and how long it is kept.
