Public stories
Community rules
Public stories on Trunk follow one policy, in the words the app shows. Changing a word changes its version, and contributors are asked again.
If you publish
Publishing is by invitation during the pilot. Before a story, a public profile or a public collection is submitted, its contributor accepts every statement below, as one:
- I am 18 or older.
- I made what I publish, or I hold the rights to it. I will not publish someone else's recording, photo or words as mine.
- Everyone who can be heard or seen in a public edition knew they were being recorded and agrees to it being public. Where the law of the place it was recorded requires everyone's consent, I have it.
- I attach the named area where a memory happened, never a private home, and I follow the rule for a sensitive place. I never attach a place to make a memory look like it happened somewhere it did not.
- What I publish is for a general audience: nothing sexual, nothing that shows a child in a way the child's guardian would not approve, and nothing that exposes a private person's address, health or contact details.
- I publish nothing objectionable and I abuse no one: no hate, harassment, threats or violence, and nothing meant to demean a person. Trunk has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users: an edition that breaks this is removed, and an account that does is suspended.
- Every edition is reviewed by a person before it is public, can be removed under this policy, and can be appealed once. Publishing needs my current sign-in, and my private memories stay private.
If you watch
- Anyone may view public stories without an account, a location or an app.
- Anyone may report a story with a reason. A report is never shown to the creator or to the public with the reporter's name. Trunk has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users; a person reads every report and answers it within 24 hours.
- A signed-in person may block a creator. Blocking hides both ways and tells Trunk's review as a report, never the person blocked.
- Nothing about watching is kept.
Places
- A private home, a shelter, a clinic, the inside of a school or anywhere a person would expect not to be recorded is private: it cannot be attached, found or suggested.
- A place of worship, a memorial, a hospital's grounds or a courthouse is sensitive: it can be chosen by name and is never suggested by nearness, and a story there is reviewed with consent in mind.
- Any other named area is open: listed, suggested and attachable.
How to report
Reporting, hiding and blocking happen in the app: open the story, profile or collection and choose Report from its menu. Without the app, write to help@trunkhere.com with the page's address and your reason.
